Suggest Treatment For Diarrhoea In A Child
My 14 month old boy had loose stools for about 5 days. It was water and smelly . The loose stools were about 4-5times a day. It's either thick n loose or watery and smelly. His meals are normal and he is also formula fed. The only thing added on his diet were yogurt bites and cereal snacks bought of the shelves. Gerber brand. I wonder if eating these snacks will cause his loose stools. I had stop giving him fruits these few days too.
He is also behaving irritable. We were on on flight they other day and there was no way to pacify him. He simply just cannot sit still for one minute. Despite every effort suggested. That's was before his loose stools.
He is 14 months exactly but still doesn't want to walk. He is holding on and standing up well. And sometimes he will release his hand to "show" us his "amazing" skills . But he alway tip toe, run a few steps and fall on our arms.
He is otherwise feeding fine. Playful , doing somersaults on bed , jumping , crawling up n down sofa etc. but easily "fussy" and irritable . I don know if he is not feeling well or jux being "naughty".
Please advise
Do not worry

Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. It seems that your child is suffering from mild viral illness which is common in toddlers. It is self limiting and just needs a few measures. You may start him on a probiotic such as enterogermina twice daily for next 5 days. This will restore his gut healthy flora and help in early recovery. Also, start a zinc supplement such as Syp ZnD or Zinconia for next 14 days. This will help in improving his gut function and provide immunity against similar episodes in next few months.
His developmental milestones are perfectly normal. Many kids achieve walking without support by 18 months of age. Ensure a good healthy diet and plenty of fluids. Kids do become a bit fussy after flights due to earaches. You may use ear plugs and feed while take off and landing to avoid them in future. Also, teething can be a likely reason for these symptoms. So, give acetaminophen or Paracetamol for pain relief as and when required.
Hopefully it will be of help. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
Seemed like so many things came together ... Worried
Its not due to vaccination

Hi
Cough and cold is not a side effect of vaccination. It seems to be a self limiting viral illness which will go off within a few days. Don't worry.
