Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Stomach Flu

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Jan 2015
Question: Hello, I am having an embarrassing issue. For almost a month now I have had diarrhea. I feel fine, not like a stomach flu etc. It hits as soon as I get up in the morning and then I'm done for the day - just mornings. I haven't changed my diet or supplements so not sure what's going on.

Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy is strongly advisable to rule the colon cancer out.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Any stool pattern change at the age over 50 should be checked with colonoscopy. Its because the risk of colon cancer significantly rises over 50.
Your diarrhea can be caused by some infection, inflammatory bowels disease but it can also be the symptom of colon cancer. The cancer is less probable, but its the first thing which should be ruled out.
Here is what you should do:
1. Visit your doctor, get blood work, urine analysis, stool test and stool culture test done at first.
2. Get scheduled for colonoscopy (no matter if the previous test detect something or not).
3. If you have any bloating, cramps, nausea, occasional gas obstruction, abdominal X-ray should be done with first doctors visit.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
