Suggest Treatment For Dementia
Question: My husband is 71 years old. He's been hospitalized 5 times in the last year for the same thing. It starts out with his having difficulty operating the remote or his computer. It usually progresses to confusion, inability to put words together to make a sentence, hallucinations, sometimes doesn't recognize who I am. This can last from a day to 3 days once where he didn't know who I was. Then it all goes away. No infections anywhere, no drug problems, heart issues ruled out. No stroke or heart attack.
More info. He has a pacemaker and spinlsl stimulator. Degenerative disc disease. His meds are: Pyridostigmine 60mg 3X, Pregbalin 100mg 3X, Hydrocodone 10/325 3X, Paxil 40mg, Fluticasone, Tamsulosin .4mg, Plavix 75mg 1X, Metropolol 50mg 2X,Levetiracetam 1,000mg 2X(just increased from 750mg 2X after this hospital stay), Atorvastitin 20mg, Nitro when needed.

This is often suggestive of the early stage of dementia. Unfortunately, there is no absolute cure as of date for dementia fully.
However, we tend to manage all symptoms related to dementia and also manage conditions such as diabetes, stroke, etc. that can cause aggravation of symptoms and accelerate the disease process.
In all, probably early symptoms of dementia. No known cure as of date but managing episodes and aggravating conditions is the mainstay for management.

thank you. nobody had suggested that. The latest answer they're giving me is that it's possible seizures. When looking up info on sezures doesn't seem to for any description I've seen. what is your opinion about that possibility? I'm definitely going to all about dementia. Both his parents had it.

Seizures for 5days is strange to me and I will not call it that way. If it were seizure, then they should provide medications and let’s see if that significantly reduces the episodes. However, I wouldn’t think that is a more likely option at this time.
