Suggest Treatment For Cystic Pimple On Face

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jun 2015
Question: I have a somewhat large, cystic pimple on the side of my face that has been there for days. It has no whitehead whatsoever. Tonight, I was pressing down on it and i felt a small pop. Nothing came out at all because, as i said, there's no whitehead at all. I know it can be dangerous to pop pimples. I was wondering, since this one popped under the skin, does that put me even more at risk to get an infection? Im so worried about it getting into my bloodstream and causing sepsis.

Brief Answer:
such situation is not so common, however remain alert

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, welcome to HCM and thanks for choosing us.

I understand your concerns about your pimple and possible infection to brain as you have pressed it hard. Your concerns are theoretically true, but such infections are not so common because of the following reasons
Firstly all pimples are not highly infected (you too, didn't have Whitehead on your pimple)
You need to press it much harder to release the bacteria into blood
Morever , the danger area for your concern includes lower portion of nose, upper and lower lip and middle part of chin. You have mentioned that you have it in side of cheek
Finally even if it is released into blood, antibodies in blood will kill the bacteria

However if you develop headache, fever you need to report to emergency room in your nearby hospital. Don't press it again. It will subside in few days or meet dermatologist for examination.

I hope my reply will help you. Please write to us for more information and follow up queries. I wish you good health.
Note: Hope the answers resolves your concerns, however for further guidance of skin related queries consult our Dermatologist.Click here to book a consultation
