Posted on Sat, 30 Jul 2016
Question: I have had bronchitis for over 6 weeks or longer. Two visits to ER. Unable to get in doctor because he is out until after the 4th. Xray revealed bronchial pneumonia. Had a round of doxycylcine and have Dulera and Pro air HFA; albuteral inhalers. Nothing makes it better. Stiil coughing up smal amounts of white phlegm from bronchii. No fever or pain.

Some questions to help guide my answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

I am sorry you have been sick for so long.

If I understand your history right, you developed coughing with mucus production 6 weeks ago, and then it turned into pneumonia, which was treated with a course of doxycycline, an inhaler that has a steroid + a long acting bronchodilator (Dulera), and a short acting bronchodilator inhaler to be used as needed (Pro Air). But there are still some residual symptoms, but no further signs of bacterial infection (no fever or discolored sputum).

May I ask -
Are you able to take deep breaths?
Do you smoke cigarettes?
Do you have any underlying health problems such as asthma?
Do you use an ACE inhibitor type blood pressure medicine?
Have you had prolonged respiratory illnesses before?
Do you have allergies and are they worse this year?

Thanks - more information to follow.
