Suggest Treatment For Cough, Wheezing, Fever And Nasal Congestion
Question: I am a nanny for three kids under 3, and they are constantly getting sick. So am I. For the past month I've had a dry cough and some wheezing. Last week it started to improve and then another kid got sick ( wet cough, fever and runny nose) so of course I get sick again. My temperature is normal until 4pm and then it goes up to 100/101. That started 3 days ago. Coughing up yellow mucus, wet cough throughout the day, no wheezing or shortness of breath. Lots of nasal congestion and runny nose. My mucus is a mustard color in the morning and then stays light yellow the rest of the day. I have sinus pressure and pain now. Soreness in my jaw.
I can't afford to go to the doctor if it is an infection. Do I need antibiotics? Or should I be okay healing on my own. I have no serious health issues or asthma. Right now I am taking Claritin, mucinex and ibuprofen. Help, I have to go back to work tomorrow!
Thank you so much! Jenny

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic would help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to HCM
You have a lung infection which is likely to be bacterial as you have fever and yellow sputum. It would heal faster if you use an antibiotic. The present medicines you are taking are only for symptomatic relief.
Eat wholesome food rich in fruits and vegetables, follow a healthy life style and exercise. These help your immunity and guard you against frequent infections.
Certain herbal preparations like Septilin ( Himalaya product) may help you as they are believed to improve immunity.
I shall be happy to answer if you have further queries.
