Question: I am writing about my 14 months old baby (16Kgs weight) .
1 month back she suffered a lot with cough and cold and viral fever due to seasonal change.
Right now again there is some season change and her caregiver is also sneezing sometimes. though we asked her to use face mask and giver her (caregiver) azithromycin 500.

I wanted to know is there any precautionary medicine which is safe and which we can give my baby to fight against this cough and cold proactively? I really don't want my baby falling sick again. please advice. Is catrizine can be given to babies safely as a precautionary medicine ?

Thanks and Regards

Brief Answer:
Best way is to avoid exposure

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Viral upper respiratory infection spreads through droplets of affected person. So the best way to prevent the spread of infection is to avoid contact with the infected person.
I would suggest you to keep your caretaker away from your baby for 2-3 days(for the period of infectivity) if possible ,as this is the best measure.
It's good that you have instructed her to use face mask but still there is possibility getting infected.
Cetrizine or combination of cetrizine with montelukast helps in prevention from recurrence of allergy induced respiratory problem not from viral infection.

I know for you it will be difficult to manage in the absence of caretaker. But I insist you to take this measure for better care of your baby.

I hope this helps.
I shall be glad to answer if you have any more query.
Regards
