Brief Answer:
If Pacimol is not effective, you may give Meftal P

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Let me assure you that the child often suffers from episodes of fever for a day or two following a vaccination and there is nothing to worry about it. It is due to a normal reaction of the body to initiate an immunogenic reaction in response to the vaccine. The cough and cold could be due to a viral infection which is common in this season.

Your doctor has prescribed the right medicines and you can continue them. In case you feel that the fever is not relieved with Pacimol (paracetamol) you can give Meftal P syrup (mefenamic acid) which is more effective in bringing down the temperature. But it is a prescription medicine and you need to get it prescribed by your doctor. You may also give steam inhalation to your child. Just sit with the child on your lap and a source of steam before you. The water vapour would be in the air and automatically the child would breathe it in. Water in the form of vapour will reach deep inside the lungs and help in diluting the cough and would provide relief. Please note that viral infections take 5-10 days to resolve and antibiotics are ineffective in such a situation. You will have to patiently wait.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation is the best treatment that you can offer

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

As I mentioned, the cough and runny nose are due to a viral infection and irrespective of the medicines used, it will be there for 5-10 days. Some antiallergic needs to be given to bring down the runny nose but you are already giving it and no further antiallergics need to be added. Steam inhalation, although not a medicine, works best in relieving cough, be in case of children or adults. Try it out and surely you would be benefitted.

Since no other medicine would help, I am not trying to mention yet another.
