Suggest Treatment For Cough, Cold And Chest Pain

Question: 4 days ago, I had cough and colds, now since two, no colds problems however cough problem increases and now cough cause left hand side lung pain. what is problem. Is there any serious issue or what types of treatment/ medical test should I take.

Thanks for your query.

Cough and cold you had 4 days back could most probably be due to viral infection. Viral infections tend to decrease the local immunity (disease resistance power ) temporarily. This makes the throat and lungs susceptible to bacterial infections.

The cough now you have is due to superadded bacterial infection. This is called bacterial pneumonitis. Need not worry this is not serious. You will need a course of antibiotics for a duration of 5 days or a week. Most commonly used is Tab Levoflox 500mg once a day for 5 days after food in the morning. You may also have to take Syp Ambrolite 10 ml thrice daily for 3 days to control the cough.
