Brief Answer:
Looks like post viral hypersensitivity .

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I'am Dr Suresh K Yadav MD (paediatrics), I had gone through your question and understand your concerns,

Looks like he is suffering from acute respiratory infection with post infection hypersensitivity .Prominent bronchovascular marking means there is inflammation of bronchioles indicating bronchiolitis or airway narrowing due to spasm like allergy.

Is there fever ? Is there is previous history of similar illness, is there is family history of allergy or asthma or any chronic illness ? Was there any problem at birth like respiratory distress or meconium ? Was other investigation including complete blood count done? Is there is only cough or distress is also there. What is nature of cough , is is spasmodic? Has you child received DPT vaccines. Weight of your baby ?

If there is no distress and cough only it may sometimes take time to improve , if there is response to nebulisation you may increase frequency of nebulisation under guidance of you doctor. Most likely it is due to post viral / infection hypersensitivity . Pertussisoid cough also need to be ruled out , if there is component of spasmodic or prolonged cough . In that case a trial of macrolide group of antibiotics may be tried after discussing with your doctor.

if cough persists he needs basic investigations like blood count, ESR , MT test to rule out chronic illness.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions

Take care.
