Suggest Treatment For Constipation

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Sep 2015
Question: I am having constipation with small, little finger size bowl movements. What is going on?
I also have lots of burping after eating and just feel that something is not right
in my digestive system.

May 2014 I had severe anemia and had many tests but never did find the cause.

Brief Answer:
Please consider conditions such as listed below

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to look into causes like:

+Irritable bowel syndrome
+Inflammatory bowel disease
+Diverticulosis
+Celiac disease
and a few others that are similar to the above list.

Let me take one from the above list, just for a general description, so you better understand and if possible, even relate to it.

Irritable bowel syndrome:

Symptoms:
+Burping
+Abdominal pain or cramping
+Abdominal bloating (especially after consumption of a trigger factor)
+Mucus in the stool
+Diarrhea or constipation
+Increased gas production
and a few others.

In almost all cases, the above symptoms and episodes are brought about by consumption of trigger factors. Trigger factors are food or drinks that cause the symptoms and should be avoided completely:

+Popcorn
+Chocolate
+Tea
+Coffee
+Carbonated drinks
+Milk and other dairy products (especially if lactose intolerant)
+Gluten and gluten-containing products
+Stress
+Alcohol
+Cauliflower
+Broccoli
+Cabbage
and a few others that are more individual-specific. If you have noticed a particular pattern of appearance of your symptoms after consumption of specific foods or drink, then avoid it and observe.

As for the anaemia, the more common type of anaemia with individual with IBS and other such conditions is vitamin B12 deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia. Let me explain: when the large intestine (which is predominantly affected when IBS episodes occur) is abnormal, it does not serve its function of absorption of nutrients like iron, vitamin B12, etc; which in turn results in the deficiency and thus the anaemia.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please go through my explanation, and even if not accurate, please consider doing more research or writing back to me to better understand these conditions, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
