Question: My 83 year old father came home from triple bypass surgery last weekend. He has been constipated for 4 days. It's really starting to bother him. What can we do? Should I take him to the emergency room?

Brief Answer:
Try a plain water enema.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Such constipation after surgeries is common.Just speak with his doctor.

A plain water or soap water enema can just help him clear his bowel.

If this fails then you can go to ER if needed. But in most patient enema suffices.

Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
