Brief Answer:
IBS needs active efforts from both patient and doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for your faith in the health care Magic
I have gone through your question and I understood your problem.
You have been diagnosed with IBS and you already are getting treated for it.But you say you are not yet relieved. One thing I want to explain you is IBS is very difficult to treat it requires efforts from both doctor as well as patient. You already are being treated with medicines so I will advice you some other methods of controlling it.

1. IBS Treatment through Diet

Any food that is high in fat, insoluble fiber, caffeine, coffee (even decaf), carbonation, or alcohol is problematic. All of these food categories are either GI stimulants or irritants, and can cause violent reactions of the gastrocolic reflex. This directly affects the muscles in the colon and can lead to pain, constipation AND diarrhea, gas, and bloating.
Soluble fiber is the single greatest dietary remedy for preventing Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms, as well as relieving them once they occur. Soluble fiber is not typically found in foods most people think of as "fiber," such as XXXXXXX or raw leafy green vegetables (these foods are high in insoluble fiber, a dietary trigger). Soluble fiber is actually found in foods commonly thought of as "starches"

2. IBS Treatment through Supplements

There are many types of supplements for symptom management of IBS that are very effective. In particular:
prebiotic soluble fiber supplements

enteric coated peppermint oil capsules

medicinal strength fennel seed tea

medicinal strength peppermint leaf tea

heat therapy

probiotics

calcium and/or magnesium

digestive enzymes

3. IBS Treatment through Alternative Therapies

most notable gut-directed hypnotherapy, are clinically proven remedies for relieving IBS symptoms

4. IBS Treatment through Stress Management
Stress management by modifying lifestyle through different ways like yoga, counselling etc have been proved to be equally effective.

5. IBS Treatment through Prescription Medications

Lotronex and Zelnorm are the only prescription drugs clinically tested and approved for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.Rest treatment is symptomatic. So in the end I will suggest you to discuss all these modes of treatment with your treating doctor.

I hope my answer was helpful for you . Thank you.

Brief Answer:
strict diet plan and lifestyle modification is what you need

Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for your faith in the health care Magic
I have gone through your question and I understood your problem.

The most common dietary treatment for IBS has been, and still is, a high fibre diet. While this is still a positive recommendation for many patients, especially those who suffer from constipation, some patients will not benefit from an increase in dietary fibre, and in some the symptoms may even worsen. As with any change in diet the increase in fibre should be gradual, involve a variety of fibres and an adequate fluid intake of at least 1.5 litres per day. The major sources of fluid should be water, but dilute tea or juices may be suitable in some patients. Caffeinated drinks such as coffee, and carbonated soft drinks can aggravate symptoms and should be limited, especially in the initial stages of dietary modification.

You said you dont know how to plan your diet as you dont understand fibres so I will plan your diet

This meal plan provides 25 - 30 g of fibre from a variety of sources and 30 - 35 g of fat depending
on the quantity of added margarine, oil and fat content of dairy foods.

Breakfast - a bowl of high fibre cereal such as untoasted muesli, weetbix or porridge with fresh or tinned fruit and reduced fat milk or a calcium fortified soy milk and/ or wholemeal or grain toast with minimal margarine and honey or vegemite. Tea.

Lunch - sandwiches made with wholemeal bread with low fat cheese, lean beef, tinned fish and salad. Tinned or fresh fruit with low fat yoghurt. Water, tea or diluted juice.

Main Meal - water, lean grilled chicken with lemon juice and pepper. Served with salad, boiled new potatoes and wholemeal bread.

Snacks spread throughout the day - fresh fruit, low fat yoghurt, crackers with cheese, or wholemeal crumpets with honey. Water, tea or diluted juice.
As I have already said treatment of IBS is symptomatic so watever your doctor is prescribing is right.Dont discontinue it.
Hypnotherapy is also very effective. In my clinic I heve seen people getting benifited from it.For that you haveto consult with a psychiatrist.
Also I want to stress one more time you have to modify your lifestyle. You are doing late night shifts which you have to change. So try changing it.

I hope my answer was helpful for you . Dont forget to close the discussion. You can also ask direct quesns to me.Thank you.
