Suggest Treatment For Constant Headaches, Neck Pain And Nausea

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: I have a couple threads already on this awaiting answers but I am a very anxious person with a panic disorder. I have had constant headache for a month now. Mostly ice pick pains. 3 migraines during the span. Also have burning atop my head. Pain at the back of the skull with neck pain. I have the ice pick brain zap pains in my temples and above my eyes in the socket I guess.

Some nausea Throughout the day but that can be due to anxiety and panic attacks. I also have pins and needle pains at random places in my head throughout the day. I had a ct scan and came back clear as well as basic blood work. I am only writing this again bc I ran out of posts.

I was mainly concerned that this could be something imminently dangerous. I feel faint a lot of the time but that could be panic attacks I was just prescribed Xanax and Zoloft after trying to beat it on my own for 3 months but I apparently couldn't at this rate.

Right now I get a throbbing pain similar to migraine but only brief above my right eye especially upon movement and breathing very randomly.

Brief Answer:
Not a dangerous condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Since CT scan resulted clear, you shouldn't worry about any dangerous condition that may risk your health.

Ice pick headaches are randomly associated with migraines.

Sensory disturbances that don't follow a regular pattern are almost always associated with stress and anxiety disorder.

In my opinion you should consider being treated for migraines too, besides anxiety and panic attacks.

Discuss with your Neurologist about migraines treatment.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards.

Brief Answer:
Sensory disturbances.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Burning pain, pins and needles, all these indicate sensory disturbances that may be caused by anxiety disorder and by migraines as well.

Local scalp trauma ( even minor ones ), bad neck positions during the sleep etc. may compress nerves that supply the skull, and may result in such symptoms.

All these conditions may result in discomfort, but are not dangerous.

Hope I helped you.

Wishing you good health.

Ok thank you. Do you rhink it matters that the pain is generally at the same spot on top left side of my head. Sometimes the stabbing burning pain. The pains through the rest of my head (pins and needle) are random and all over.

Also have the back of my head pain which could be generating from my neck. My neck cracks a lot lately and when it does its a really loud pop along with smaller cracks theoughout the day .

Brief Answer:
Pain may be generated by neck too.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Both, top left side of head and neck pain may arise from your neck because in the upper portion of neck arise nerves that supply these areas.

A soft cervical collar when you stand up for few days and warm procedures on neck may help with the symptoms.

Tingling as we discussed before, since doesn't follow a regular pattern, may be related to anxiety.

Anxety and panic attacks also amplification the pain.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Consider neck imaging studies.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,

Since your neck is sore from weeks now, imaging studies such cervical spine MRI are necessary to understand better the cause of your neck pain, for example degerative discs disease, herniated disc etc.

Discuss with your Doctor about this issue.

Hope this helps.

Answered by Dr. Dr. Erion Spaho (13 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes, it is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for the follow up query.

The answer to your last question is yes, upper spine issues such degenerative spine disease may result in symptoms such sensory changes and pain on skalp, besides other conditions that we discussed before.

However, it is necessary for this possible condition to be verified by imaging studies too.

Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Wishing you good health.

Ok sorry for asking so many questions just one more thing. If it were something with my neck would the pain on scalp and stabbing moist feelings be in the same spot? Bc they are generally in the same location every time. Top left and back right.

Is there anything i shouls pay attention to that i should be concerned about?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Erion Spaho (26 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Occipital neuralgia for example.

Detailed Answer:
You can ask as many questions as you need.

Cervical spine conditions such occipital neuralgia for example may cause similar symptoms with yours.

However, it is necessary for this condition to be confirmed by your Doctor after examining you and by imaging studies.

You should avoid extensive bending and sharp movements of the head and neck, you should avoid also cold by wearing scarf for example.

Hope this helps.
