Suggest Treatment For Congenital Cerebral Palsy
Question: trying to find a recommended qualified doctor to evaluate my brother, XXXXXXX
XXXX, 56 years old. XXXXXXX was born with cerebraal palsy and has never talked or walked. Simply, over the past 10 years he now much worse as far as any movceement on his own are concerned. I'm concinvincws with at least five days of massage, stretching and occupational therapy mixed up it will improve his pain which I am pretty sure has to do in part to dehydration. So much more but for now this is a start. He now lives in XXXX in a nursing home called XXXX. He seem to have gone downhill since moving from where he lived in XXXX. for the past 40 years or so. Our parents died when he was 9 years old our father became very ill and was incapable of caring for him.
Any thing you suggest, recommend to reasonably make the rest of his left as painless as possible which could be another 50 - years.

I read your question carefully and I appreciate your concern about your brother.
From what I understand by your description your brother is in pain involving the limbs affected by cerebral palsy. In that case the most likely cause is spasticity which commonly develops in the affected limbs. It is good that he is having physical therapy, that is the mainstay of treatment and should be continued.
What I would add to that (if not enough) would be a medication to relieve spasticity. The most commonly used is Baclofen (Lioresal). So you should discuss with the nursing home doctor if he also think that there is spasticity in play and the possibility of adding it to the therapy.
