Question: Hi. I am a 31 year old male. For the past 10 weeks, I have had a small red spot near the edge of my bottom lip (see picture). I thought it was a cold core at first but it hasn't changed or evolved at all. I'd like to know what you think it could be. Thank you,

Olivier

Brief Answer:
Answer few questions

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic,

I have reviewed the attached photograph and need to ask you a few questions.

When you noticed it 10 weeks ago was it in the form of papule, pustule or blister?

Are you having itching, burning or any other complaints on the lesion?

Have you changed your toothpaste recently or applied any new on the lips?

Kindly revert back with the answers.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Hi. 1. When I first noticed it 10 weeks ago, it was in this exact form. I do not know how to call it. it hasn't changed. 2. It never itches or burns or cause any pain or sensation. 3. Didn't change toothpaste, and I have used the same brand of lip balm for the last year.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be eczematous patch

Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints it doesn't look like cold sore.
It seems to be a dry eczematous patch,
It can be due to sun exposure, hot winds or cold dry weather.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply topical steroid like cortisone cream on the affected areas twice daily along with frequent and liberal use of a moisturizing cream on the entire lips 2-3 times in a day.
