Detailed Answer:
Hello Ms. XXXX,

Sorry you are sick. I see that you are taking Coricidin HBP so is it fair to assume you have high blood pressure? That would preclude me from suggesting a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine.

If you have been having fevers for 5 days, difficulty breathing, and discolored sputum when you cough, then yes, I recommend you go in to the urgent care where they should listen well to your lungs and get a chest X-ray. Fever plus cough with discolored sputum (not just discolored when you first get up) can be pneumonia.

It may also be a viral infection which can cause colds or influenza. For that, antibiotics won't help (only effective against bacteria). Flu shots prevent flu rather variably.

The only medication you might consider adding right now would be guaifenesin (Mucinex) to help thin the secretions to clear them out more easily. For this medication (sold over the counter) to work, you need to drink a lot of water (I recommend 2 glasses per 400 mg).

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
