by the way....I am usually extremely healthy but spend time with my grandchild who goes to a pre-school and gave me the cold in Nov. I now have a funny taste in my mouth which I attribute to the post nasal drip, sore throat, constantly coughing up mucus etc.....

Brief Answer:
topical spray , mucolytic, oral antihistamine

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Post nasal drip can be associated with intermittent sore throat because of the effect of the mucus on this area. It is also the most common cause for chronic/persistent cough.

The other causes of chronic cough are GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and asthma.

An acute infection such as the cold or flu can cause the symptoms that you are describing , they can also occur in response to allergies.
It is not unusual for the symptoms to persist after the acute infection. It is very unlikely that it is serious.

The use of a topical steroid nasal spray and oral anti histamine would be helpful in relieving your symptoms.
The topical steroid spray may take 1 to 2 weeks for XXXXXXX effect in some persons, in others the effect is within days.

Examples of topical sprays are nasocort, nasonex, rhinocort, flonase

A mucolytic may also help to break up the mucus so that it is easily expelled. Examples are bisolvan, mucomyst, guifenesin

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
