Suggest Treatment For Cold And Severe Sore Throat

Question: I've had a cold for 2 weeks. It started with a severe sore throat every other day for 4 days. Then the 5th day I had congestion and fluid in the ears has been a problem for the past week or so. There is some blood in the mucus when I blow my nose but I don't have any obvious nose bleeds. It's a deep bleed if that makes sense. Today I woke up and my neck is very sore, glands swollen and my ears feel full but congestion is better in the afternoon. It hurts to chew. Advil only slightly helped for an hour. Should I go to the doctor?

Yes, you should visit your doctor / GP. The throat, ear and nose should be examined for a possible focus of infection. Throat Swab for culture sensitivity testing should be taken if a bacterial infection is suspected. Antibiotics can be started and adjusted according to the culture results.
