Suggest Treatment For Cold And Cough

Question: I have just gotten over a cold and been coughing alot still from this weekend. Today when i woke up my throat was sore and throughout the day i started to become more hoarse. Now my throat is burning and it hurts really bad to swallow or cough. Also, when i cough, i get a tingly feeling in my chest area. When i lay down, its hard to breathe. It feels like how it does when i have a asthma attack and my airway starts closing but it doesnt keep getting smaller it stays the same. when im sitting up its easier to breathe. Not sure if its because of my asthma, throat problems, or both.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Your symptoms like cough, cold ,sore throat and difficulty in swallowing are suggestive of upper respiratory tract infection (URTI), mostly due to viral infection.
And viral infection is the most common cause for worsening of underlying asthma.
So your difficulty in breathing is mostly due to worsening of asthma.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT ( pulmonary function test )
3. Throat examination.
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to rule out worsening of asthma.
Throat examination is needed to rule out URTI.
You may need anti histamine, anti inflammatory drugs and also inhaled medicine.
So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
