Question: Can you fix clitoral insensitivity ?After taking a birth control I have since switched. I've noticed my clit is not as sensitive as it once was! Is this permanent or should I let this new birth control run its course it's only been two weeks since I have ever noticed the clitoral insensitivity.

Brief Answer:
Need more details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

I would like to know what birth control method you are using at present, what was your previous medication, do you use any other medication, is there any history of trauma or infection.

Clitoral insensitivity can be due to several causes, functional and organic. Excessive use of vibrators, low hormone levels, certain birth control pills are the causes usually noticed.

Low testosterone and DHEAS levels are the reason for lowered clitoral sensitivity. Insufficient prostaglandin release and insufficient nitric oxide production by the parasympathetic nerve endings are other causes.

Management is based on herbal remedies for aphrodisiac healing, supplements to improve the blood circulation etc. You may need to change the contraceptive combination if needed.

Please get back with the information required. I will be ready to help.

My last birth control was . XXXXXXX
My new birth control is Junel 1.5/30 . Which I have taken before with little to no problems. No I haven't had any infections or trauma. But as a side note I did give birth to my daughter four months ago. I do not take any other medications.

Brief Answer:
Please have a clinical exam.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thanks for writing back.

The oral contraceptive combination can cause decreased libido, but no specific clitoral insensitivity has been reported. Note should also be made of any impedance to circulation as a side effect of the pill in view of recent child birth and for this, I would suggest a clinical opinion by an expert.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to contact for further clarifications. I will be happy to help.

Regards,
Shanti.V.

Is clitoral insensitivity permanent ?

Brief Answer:
No.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing again.

Clitoral insensitivity is not a permanent problem in most cases. With hormone disturbances, it is self-limiting once the imbalances are corrected. With deprived circulation, improved circulation through treatment cures the problem. Herbal remedies are also available with good results. Apart from all these, couple counselling plays an important part in attaining maximum result.

Hope your query has been answered.

Wish you good health.

regards,
Shanti.V.
