Brief Answer:
There are many ways to stop bleeding in oesophageal cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Having worked in a cancer institute , I can understand the difficult situation you and your son are going through.

Since it is a class 4 oesophageal cancer that is bleeding, the main concern at the moment is to stop the vomiting of blood. Managing his oesophageal growth is also important as he needs to be provided good nutrition. Bleeding can be stopped by many techniques and each doctor might have a different approach.

For the bleeding, local modalities, such as hemostatic agents, radiotherapy, endoscopic ligation and coagulation, are used in the context of advanced cancer, as are systemic treatments such as vitamin K, vasopressin/desmopressin, octreotide/somatostatin, antifibrinolytic agents (tranexamic acid and aminocaproic acid), and blood products. Therefore your doctor should be treating his bleeding with one or more of the above mentioned techniques.

Pain control is also a very important part of his treatment and I am sure the oncologist with give consideration to his pains during treatment.

Keeping the oesophageal lumen open can be done by stent placement.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
