Hello! Related your concern you should know that are some reasons that could cause swollen tonsils for over a month that don't well-respond using of antibiotic. These reasons include chronic tonsillitis, and mononucleosis. So I suggest to do a swab throat culture and test for Epstein-bar Virus. Regards.

Brief Answer:
I suggest to do a EBV test (IgM, IgG), full blood count and cervical ultrasound.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you writing back in healthcare magic.

I have seen carefully your attached picture and I noticed the right tonsil with moderate swollen and with some red holes on it.

Based on that you have just a neck pain and no sore throat I suggest to do a EBV test (IgM, IgG), full blood count and cervical ultrasound (to see for lymph nodules) in order to define better the diagnosis and to exclude mononucleosis.

I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery. Feel free to ask me further.
Regards.

Can stress make this worst? I've been worrying ever since I've found this. I've had 3 doctors look at my throat and feel around and said that its due to infection. Ive took amoxicillian for 10 days but it never improved. Whats causing the red spots?

Brief Answer:
Yes the stress could have an impact in this condition.

Detailed Answer:

Hello! Thank you writing back again in healthcare magic.

You should know that red spots alone are not a major cause for concern, but medical attention may be required if other symptoms appear alongside them.

Usually the red spots on the tonsils is indicative of a viral infection, and should be monitored carefully, especially if other symptoms, such as high temperature and sore throat, are present, although red spots alone are likely to disappear after a few days as the body defeats the infection.

So, based on that taking antibiotic you should see improvement in a bacterial infection but not in viral situation as I suppose you have (maybe mononucleosis).
Yes, the stress could have an impact in this condition because it weakens immunity that fights the infection in order to get a quick recovery.

I hope my answer helps you.
