Suggest Treatment For Chronic Tonsillitis

Question: hi, i have a lump on my pharyngopalantine arch,its causing on and off throbbing pain thats serve daily for 1year. also the tonsil is larger than my other on this side. iv had a ct scan which found nothing,but this was prior to finding the lump as you have too pull the pharyngopalatine forward to see. no lump on the other side. also soft palate pain & ear pain. help plz.

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any running nose or nasal obstruction or sneezes or head-ache ?
Is there any hear burn or belching ?

As per your photo and history, it appears to be, you are having chronic tonsillitis secondary to post nasal drip (sinusitis) or due to acid regurgitation due to acid peptic disease.

Between the pillars, {Post pillar (Palatopharyngeal arch) and anterior pillar (palatoglossal arach)} where, tonsil lies. Pillars and tonsils will usually affected by episodes of tonsillitis or by infected stream (sinusitis and hyper acidity).

Referred Pain in the palate and ear is quit common, due to they share common nerve supply. I suggest you to do CT scan of para nasal sinuses and direct laryngoscopy (acid laryngitis) and to know the root cause.

i do get acid reflux which i take tablets for, they help the acid out but not my mouth pain, iv had a ct scan which my doctor found nothing,so iv been sent for a mri scan, iv had camera up my nose twice and nothing has been found. i do get migranes once or twice a week, i dont have any runny nose.what could that lump be on my pharyngopalatine archthere isnt one the otherside? ?

As such, lumps are uncommon on post pillar (palato pharyngeal arch) at your age, and I do not find any abnormality on your arch (tonsil is one of the commonest site for oral cancer).

Yes. MRI, is an investigation, where soft tissue swellings can be studied in detailed (extent and depth). If you are in strong suspicion, please go ahead for the investigations.

Do not worry, It is not a cancerous growth. It is a simple mucosal fold over muscle.
