Brief Answer:
Could be Osteoarthrosis or a loose body in knee joint.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion chronic knee pain ,which lasts for hours and hurts to walk sometimes , is most likely to be due to osteoarthrosis of knee or a loose body inside the joint. I would suggest first of all to confirm the diagnosis by getting the x rays or MRI .
To stop the pain, treatment will be decided by the x ray or MRI findings. In the meantime take mild pain killers and start knee strengthening exercises. You can take Acetaminophen / Paracetmol up to 650mg or Tab Ibuprofen up to 400mg after meal.
Hot water packs and Knee support sometimes is helpful especially if you have swelling in the knee joint.
Thanks for the question. Please feel free to ask any other question.
