Suggest Treatment For Chronic Diarrhea
Question: My adult son states that for the last month he has had multiple daily loose stools that often smell like popcorn? Any thoughts? One factor has been high stress and poor eating sleeping due to said stress, but these GI symptoms are not subsiding.

You are reporting that your son has diarrhea for the last month.
Diarrhea for more than 3 weeks as in your case, is called chronic diarrhea. The mos probably causes of his symptoms are:
-bowel infection
-malabsorbtion
-IBS and stress related
If he was my patient I would recommend to do :
- blood work
- coproculture/ ova parasites fecal test
- colonoscopy
- fecal test for malabsorbtion
If all the exams mentioned above are normal than we can say that the cause of his diarrhea is stress.
