Brief Answer:
Uncommon side effect of formoterol

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I have gone through the query and do understand your concern.
Foracort contains steroid formoterol and hyperactivity, nervousness and behavioral disorders have been described as uncommon side effects.
These side effects are common when steroid is taken orally. But as formoterol is an inhalational form the side effect are very less.
I won't get worried as baby is otherwise well has improved with treatment and hyperactivity is not very significant.
I would suggest you to continue the medication as the respiratory symptoms has decreased.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Brief Answer:
No, this does not significantly effect learning ability or growth

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up

Formoterol does not causes significant learning problem or poor growth as it is inhalational form(works on airway) and absorption in blood is less.
This can cause local oral infection so proper care should be taken to prevent that.
It is advisable to rinse the mouth well after its inhalation to avoid it's deposition in oral cavity.
Proper growth monitoring should also be done.
For hyperactivity, I would request you to consult a pediatric psychiatrist as hyperactivity is very common in this age and not every cases of hyperactivity needs treatment.First of all clinical assessment, it's categorization according to severity should be done.
Sometimes it's behavioral therapy(not medication) only which is needed.
