Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation
Question: My huband has had excessive gas and rumblings in his abdomin for a few days his gas is a noxious odor unlike any typical gas. He had an LAR 2.5 yrs ago & a repair to an incisional hernia 1.5 years ago so he struggles with constioation. No colostomy.

I share your concerns about your husband. In my opinion there is mild infection in intestine due to chronic constipation. This bacterial infection is responsible for the bad odour which your husband has. Also chronic constipation results in to ammonia formation in intestine due to action of commensal microorganisms. Another possibility is presence of parasites like worms.
Your husband needs a stool test for worms, eggs, microorganisms. Based on that treatment can be planned. He might require a combination of deworming tablet, antibiotic tablet along with treatment of constipation which will include high fibre diet, isabgol husk or cremmaffin syrup or dulcolax tablets. Ask him to take plenty of water.
