default
Posted on Mon, 28 Dec 2015
Question: Hi, ive had a lower back problem for nearly 3 months. I left it wothiut treatment for over two month of that period until i went to a chiropractor when the pain was unbearable and i couldnt move. After 2-3 aessions it become 80% better. But i still javent made a full recovery and some days its still pretty bad, it moves around from the left side to the right side and very ocassionaly up to upper back. In the mornings its a real struggle to put a pair of trousers on. Throughoutbthe day it inproves and then vecomes tender at night again. Last night before bed the top of my bottom started hurting and kept me a awake all night. Its around 1-2 inches below the top of the crack of my bottom and on a scale of one to 10 its a seven for pain. I cant sit down properly. Also it feels like i want to go to the toilet and when i quench my buttocks it hurts. My lower back pain is still there too but im not sure if its as bad as it usually is but maybe because the other pain in my bottom is bad. I would jave thought 8 visits to the chiropractor would have made a difference, but now im wondering if its something else. In the last 6 months ive started drinking a lot 6 days a week around 2-4 drinks a day and am jnder severe pressure in work.

Brief Answer:
Physiotherapy, vitamin D3 and analgesic are required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You are having chronic backache. Treatment is analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Physiotherapy and back excercises are useful. You should also check your vitamin D level as vitamin D deficiency is important cause of backache. If found low you can take vitamin D3. Doses of vitamin D3 is 60000 IU weekly for 10 weeks in deficient cases. MRI of lumbar spine is useful in knowing the cause in detail.
You are also advisable to consult general surgeon to also see local causes of buttocks pain and pain in gluteal region. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.

The pain in the buttock area hirts when i press on it. Could the cocyx be affected by the extra work its doing from my back ache or sonething like that? It also hurts when i pass wind. It also really hirts when i try to stand up.

Brief Answer:
Local cause or vitamin deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
Its cause may be some soft tissue cause around gluteal region. So it is advisable to consult general surgeon to rule out local cause.
Second possibility is vitamin D deficiency which can cause such unexplained pains in muscles and bones.
Everything else already discussed.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
