Suggest Treatment For Cellulitis In The Foot

Posted on Wed, 4 Jan 2017
Question: I had cellulitis in my foot last summer. Now I feel 2 rather hard bumps on my foot--higher up --near the ankle--no redness or skin problem--these bumps are under the skin. I do have a arch problem on this foot. My foot doctor thinks it's more cellulitis and is treating me with antibiotics again. How does this sound?daly

Brief Answer:
Get xray of your foot done and send me the report.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query. Symptoms you are explaining are suggesting either underlying skin inflamation or osteomylitis of small bone of foot which may be associated with fever or not.

So to perfectly make your diagnosis, its mandatory to get complete blood counts, xray of involved foot done in AP and Oblique view done and send me the report.

Get biospy of the swelling done and send me the report.

Till then take antibiotics, which your doctor had already advised.

Do hot sponging of your foot.

Avoid dependent position of your involved foot while sitting, as it causes more swelling of foot, dependent edema.

Thanks,

Dr. Chander Mohan Singh.
