Question: Hi there, I have had cellulitis and ulcer on my leg for several months now and am half way through a course of Doxycycline. Is it normal for the skin to become scab like and peel ? The pain is still unbearable also, can you advise me when I should start to feel less pain ?

Brief Answer:
You should get Colour doppler of the leg done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Cellulitis and it's related ulcer will not last longer. It will be cured within few weeks.
As the ulcer is of longer duration, you should get a Colour doppler of the affected lower limb to exclude VENOUS ULCER. Varicose veins will cause ulcers in the leg and will be Chronic.

I prescribe Antibiotics like Clindamycin capsule 600mg thrice daily along with anti inflammatory tablet to my patients with similar complaints.

Please consult a Vascular surgeon or General surgeon and get examined clinically and get Colour doppler of the affected lower limb.

Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
