Question: I have a non painful callous like feeling on the bottom of the balls of my right foot, to a greater degree than my left foot. I walk and have no issues but I wore cowboy boots most of my adult life and had a motorcycle accident and had to jam both my feet onto my brakes and gear sides. I started noticing this build up 2 years ago while in recovery from the accident. It feels like a 'pad' my dog might have on their feet. THXS...

Brief Answer:
calluses

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It sounds like the accident may have caused some shifting in your feet that has set you up to form calluses. Most people do get some callus formation unless the shoes they wear fit perfectly and do not rub in any spot.
If they are not painful, they are probably not plantar warts which can look like calluses but usually are painful.
You can soak your feet and use a tool that can file down the calluses if they are bothering you. As long as they are not plantar warts they will not harm you.
Even calluses can start to cause pain if they get large enough.
Leaving them alone or trimming them down is up to you as long as they are not painful.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
