Most possible a muscular problem but other options explained too

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

The calf it is an area that has muscles, tendines, blood vessels and nerves.

-- Most possible cause it is a pulled muscle.
-- If there is numbness or loss of force in the muscle then it can be a nerve damage.
-- If there is instability then something it is ruptured, either a muscle or a ligament or a tendine.
-- If you have varicose veins, and if one calf it is more then 2 cm more swollen then the other, then you should consider the possibility of having a blood vessel problem.

If I was your caring doctor I would recommend the following:
1) Use a painkiller for 2 weeks which will lower the inflammation at the same time- Ibuprofen 400 mg 3 times/day.
2) Apply locally an analgesic cream and massage it 3 times/day.
3) If not better after 2 weeks or if worse, then consider doing an ultrasound of the leg which will check the blood vessels, will check for any cysts or other.
4) If there is instability then maybe a MRI will be needed, but that will depend from the physical examination of a local doctor.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Regards,
Dr. Papaqako
