Suggest Treatment For Burnt Tongue After Accidentally Drinking Hot Water

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,
I accidentally drank hot water (from the water cooler), and got my tongue burnt. Could you help me with some solution to gargle or so, which will speed up healing?

Regards,
XXXX

I have tried the medicine suggested by you and the remedies and it helped a lot. The only thing is I still don't have the taste back as I had before. The front part of the tongue still feels like when we have taken hot tea. How long does it typically take the taste buds to be back like it was before?

Thanks,
XXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

It sounds good that my suggestions helped you.

I suggest you do not take hot, spicy food until it resolves completely.
At present your tongue is very sensitive and still healing due to burn. hence whenever you eat or drink hot food you will not have taste.

I suggest you multivitamin with antioxidants medications. It is available over the counter. You can ask combination at local pharmacy. You need to take once a day after lunch.
Eat citrus fruits which help in healing process.
It will take 4-8 weeks time. Avoid hot food and drinks. (cold drink as well).

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
