I suggest a possibility of a furuncle; Oral+topical antibacterials

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have noted down the symptoms. In the Image, I can see a red, swollen bump.

I will keep a possibility of Bacterial infection/Furuncle; the infection usually gaining entry through the hair follicle. Pain is common in a Furuncle.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you an empirical course of an Oral antibiotic for a week. My choice of Oral Antibiotic would be either Flucloxacillin Or Cepahlexin, for a week.

Topically you may use an OTC antibacterial e.g mupirocin or neosporin ointment, twice daily.

An OTC pain killer and antiinflammatory e.g Ibuprofen once or twice daily will provide you symptomatic relief from pain

Would you recommend i pop it? Or should it resolve itself with the antibiotics?

Brief Answer:
I won't recommend popping

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I would suggest Oral antibiotics; they should take care of the infection.

I wont recommend popping it because popping may introduce new infection and squeezing may push infection deeper or into the surrounding tissue.

However, if it pops itself, you may clean it with sterile cotton dipped in a antiseptic like betadine, followed by twice daily topical antibacterial ointment.

Wash your hands everytime, before and after, you apply a topical antibacterial.
