Posted on Wed, 17 Dec 2014
Question: Hi, a few weeks ago i noticed a little bump inside my cheek on the left side. I looked at it 4 days ago and it was a little white spot. I kind of played with it and it appeared to scrap off/fall off. Then there was abother one bear the original ans it appears now theres another small one developing on the same side of the cheek in a different location. Theyre not painful, they do. Ot appear to be oozing or anyging, doesnt hurt when i eat specific foods. The first photo is of the original spot, the second is of the photo i took today and it looks like theres a dark mark where the first bump was.

Brief Answer:
irritational fibroma,frictional keratosis,Enameloplasty

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the bump inside the cheek is considered, I have two possibilities. It can be a irritational fibroma or inflammatory hyperplasia secondary to the chronic cheek biting.
The second possibility can be a frictional keratosis, even this is also because of chronic cheek biting.
Nothing to be panic, these are harmless. The treatment for these conditions can be rmoval of the causes like, smoothening (enameloplasty) of the sharp cuspal edges of the teeth.
Based on your description of the lesion, i have tried my best to give the diagnosis. If you can upload the images, i can give you exact diagnosis and treatment plan. You have not uploaded the images, please do upload the images.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.

Brief Answer:
frictional keratosis, enameloplasty

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
As per the images, it looks like frictional keratosis, secondary to sharp cuspal edges of mandibular first molar. Nothing to be panic, initially it will appear white, since you have scraped it off, it is appearing reddish. Consult a oral physician and get the tooth smoothened. It is a benign lesion, it will not arm you.
One more thing, on observing your images, there are pigmented areas over the palate, so get it ruled out by consulting a oral physician.
I hope my answer will help you. Take care.

Brief Answer:
physiologic, smoking induced,melanoma

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your reply.
The pigmentation over the roof of the mouth or palate may be physiological or secondary to smoking or melanoma.
So consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. If it is a physiological pigmentation, No need of any treatment. If it is secondary to smoking, you have to quit the habit(if you are a smoker).
If it is melanoma, it has to trested by chemotherapy and radiotheraly.
I hope my answer will help you. Take care.
