Question: hi. I have a bump above my vagina in the Mons pubis area. I've had it for quite sometime. It doesn't hurt but at time can itch. I would like to get rid of it. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Here are some suggestions.

Detailed Answer:
Without seeing it in person, I can't tell you exactly what it is. But here is some information that may help:

Sometimes small benign cysts grow in this region. You can get it removed in the office of your OB/Gyn or primary care doctor. If it is large, then you might want to see a dermatologist.

Sometimes hair follicles can become ingrown and produced a bump. Or can form a small infection. If there is any sign of redness, try putting hot wet compresses on it a few times a day for 3 days and see if it makes any difference.

If it is relatively flat and flaky and itchy, consider using an over the counter skin anti fungal cream on it for 2 weeks.

I hope this information helps give you some direction for what to do next.

Here is a picture of it. If it is an ingrown what else can I do to remove it. I've tried hot wet compresses in the past with no resolve.

Brief Answer:
I don't think you can do anything to remove it yourself.

Detailed Answer:
It doesn't look like an ingrown hair follicle or infection from the picture. Yes, hot compresses will not make this go away. I am thinking it may be a dermatofibroma or something similar. These are benign growths that happen where there has been some mild trauma to the skin such as from shaving. They are not uncommon on the legs.

I really don't think there is much you can do to remove it yourself. I would suggest that you make an appointment with a dermatologist to have it removed.
