Suggest Treatment For Bruised Skin
Question: My sister is visiting from Canada and she just brushed against a cardboard display box and was scraped very badly. Apparently when other people get a brusie from a bump her skin actually tears. Is this something she should be worried about?

I read your question and i understand your concern. With skin abrasion with a cardboard display box , all she needs is first aid and cleaning of the abrasion site of any foreign body or contaminant which may lead to infection. if there is no active bleeding or deranged vitals then no worries. happens all the time.
A s far as her comparatively more injury propensity is age attributed and nothing to worry about. Healing delay and wounding ability all depends on the age and declines with advancing. Slow but gradual recovery is common.
Just clean dressing of the wound site and some pain killers will work. Wash the wounded skin with saline water and keep it dressed and aseptic.
Get her a follow up assessment after first aid just for the peace of mind. No big deal. She will do as good as possible.
