Question: hi I missed a step into our grate room , both feet just came out from under me. today , I have a large bruise on the right of my tail bone, my major issues are my Hips are painfully throbbing. I feel like I pulled all the muscles in my abdomen and my neck is very painful, no matter how I move it. at the base and if I pull my head back it feels that my neck muscles are pulled . I can see my Dr but if nothing can be done, its a waste of time . so finally my question. with my fall how did my neck etc. get injured, and what can I do to lessen the pain in my hips and neck. thank you XXXX

Brief Answer: Following answers to your query... Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX XXXXXXX I have gone through your query and am sorry for the situation you are in. As you had a bad fall (feel like you pulled all the muscles in your abdomen and large bruise in your tail bone); all your spinal cord has been involved (giving the feeling of neck pain). I suggest to apply cold compresses to the large bruise in your tail bone for the next 48 hours (as you had the fall by today). You can use acetaminophen as pain killer; try not to use ibuprofen/aspirin or others that might cause bleeding. If you will notice anything unusual by tomorrow (bleeding, unbearable pain, vomiting, etc.); I highly recommend to go to ER to get further evaluated. Wish fast recovery! Feel free to ask me other questions you might have! Dr.Albana

Brief Answer: X-ray/physical examination for better evaluation.. Detailed Answer: Hi back, Thank you for following up. I cannot say it for sure; X-ray and physical examination would better evaluate it. Take oral acetaminophen together with applying cold compresses to the bruising area. If within the next 24 to 72 hours, you will notice anything unusual (as mentioned earlier) or if the neck pain will persist with the same intensity or worse, then, should go to ER for further evaluation. Wish fast recovery! Dr.Albana
