Suggest Treatment For Brown Vaginal Discharge And Abdominal Pain

Question: Almost 2 weeks ago I took 2 birth control pills at the same time after accidentally skipping 2 days, but during that time I had unprotected sex and my partner did not come inside me. The next day I took my birth control pill at the same time but I started seeing brown discharge and I had horrible stomach pains, I couldn't eat or sleep, I just felt awful. I decided to start my sugar pills to see if my period would come since I only had 2 days left. I saw some blood but more brown discharge so I thought that was my period and treated it like one. I don't have much pain anymore. Now I am concerned, was that my period? Was it from the double dosage of birth control?
On May 7th I had sex but the condom broke and my partner did not come inside me so I started to take my new package of birth control pills just to be on track with my hormones. Is that okay? What should I expect? Am I pregnant? To note, I was also on Topamax at that time and just switched to Amitriptyline a couple days ago. Please help!

Brief Answer:
Take emergency contraception. Continue pills. You are not pregnant now!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for contacting us at healthcare magic.

Before responding, I will like to obtain a few more details to you.

After the incident 2weeks ago, did you start taking a new pack of birth control or did you stop and only started taking one this May 7th?

If you had stopped and only started after this broken condom incidence, I will suggest that you take an emergency contraception and continue wth the new pack. The previous incidence 2weeks ago is unlikely to result in any pregnancy because you were already just 2days away from starting the sugar pills and as such you could not be in the fertile window.

Always endeavor to take your pills as recommended: Every day at the same time for best results.

I hope this clarifies and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

So I absolutely need the emergency contraception?

What are the side effects from taking birth control past 2 weeks and starting back up again? Will I be back on track from taking the birth control, or do I need to see my doctor?

Brief Answer:
Have you been on your birth control pills for the last two weeks?

Detailed Answer:
HI,

If you have been on birth control pills for the last two weeks as recommended by your doctor, you do not need an emergency contraception. If you have not been, then you need one. This is because there is no way to say whether you are safe or not and taking precautionary measures would be better. That is why emergency contraception if in doubts is a better option.

I wish you well.
