Suggest Treatment For Breast Cancer

Question: I will visit my MD tomorrow to discuss options for treating my breast cancer. I had a biopsy Thursday and today she told be I have cancer but it was caught in an early stage. I am supposed to ask her questions about where we go from here. She has already said it is not life threatening and I do not have to remove the breast.
How can I be sure that all is done to guarantee that it won't come back? What questions should I ask her?I have to leave early tomorrow morning 8:00 Am so I need those questions now. thanks

Brief Answer:
If early then should be curable

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

Breast cancer is indeed curable in early stages. You should ask the size of tumor and presence of axillary lymph nodes as per clinical examination and mammogram or ultrasound images. If there are no lymph nodes in axilla, whether she will do a sentinel node biopsy or not. How long will be the hospital stay and the complications of surgery.

Also, if breast is preserved, you will need radiotherapy. You may ask regarding that. You can also ask regarding possibility of Chemotherapy or hormone therapy after surgery.

Treatment of breast cancer is pretty standard these days and I feel that everything will go as per guidelines.

Hope this helps.
Regards
