Question: What would the course of action be for 25% arterial blockage?
I don't have any diagnoses of blocked arteries but have been thinking about going to get a CT Scan of my heart to see if there is any plaque my arteries. Let's say they find some blockages that are minor what would the course of action be? Simple lifestyle moderation or would statins and blood thinners be recommended to avoid MI?
Cholesterol has always been normal and have already passed a Stress Test. Just curious if there is any advantage to getting the CT Scan other than peace of mind.
Brief Answer:
No need for CT / No drugs
Detailed Answer:
Dear friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic
Nothing need be done for minor blockage
Only blockages equal to more than 70 % need aggressive and mechanical intervention like dilatation and stent
A negative TMT is reassuring. If TMT (Treadmill Exercise ECG) suggests ischemia, the next step is TMT with thallium isotope. It is the ideal non-invasive way to evaluate ischemia / to assess the PHYSIOLOGY (function) – to see whether the blood arriving at the heart muscle.
If there is a suggestion in this, the next step is to see the ANATOMY (structure) – undergo catheterisation and coronary angiography – which is invasive but the gold standard CT angio is non-invasive study for the anatomy… and you don’t need it.
You need no drugs too!
You only need life style modification
Repeat the Lipids and stress test after 2 or 3 years…that is all
Take care
Wishing all well
God bless
