Suggest Treatment For Bleeding Gums Along With Bad Breath

default
Posted on Tue, 6 Jan 2015
Question: Hi I have a few years ago had a crown- leading to this had lots of problems with the tooth (obviously) and once crown was fitted Iwent back a few times saying I wasn't happy that when flossing my gum bled a lot and that on 'sucking' on the tooth I tasted something horrible and was aware of bad breath moreso then but also generally. My dentist tells me it is nothing to worry about and still a number of years on I have the problem and it is still sensitive ie when tapping other teeth I have no problem, when tapping this tooth it is far more sensitive albeit a large crown. Please advise what I should do as I am conscious of bad breath thankyou

Brief Answer:
Need details...

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for writing in.

First of all i want to ask u something .
Did you have RCT of that tooth before going for crown?
In some cases if there is re-infection in root canal treated tooth leading to pain and sensitivity, re RCT should be done.

What type of crown it is?
Is it a metal crown or a ceramic crown?

A large crown can cause gingival infection causing bad smell and bleeding gums.

If you can upload the picture and xray of that tooth then i can tell you the exact treatment plan.

I am unsure but I think that one was root canal treatment though I can't say that with 100% certainty. It is a ceramic large crown. I am sorry I don't have a picture or an x-ray but am struggling in the UK to find out where I can get a 2nd opinion as I am registered at that one dentist I am told I cannot seek assistance elsewhere, which is why I contacted this website.

Brief Answer:
Re RCT

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back.

As I said if it’s a root canal treated tooth then should go for re RCT.
Ask your doctor about pain and sensitivity in that tooth.
For bad smell a good mouthwash should be used like listerin.
Rinse your mouth 3-4 times.
For bleeding gums scaling should be done.

Hope this answer helps.
