Suggest Treatment For Bilateral Pitting Edema In The Leg

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Jul 2016
Question: I am not sure what to do about my bilateral full leg swelling with pitting edema. My doctor keeps telling me there is nothing left to do. Labs are normal, mri's, echo, ekg are all normal. I am not sure what else to to do. The swelling is exacerbated by exercise...even light walking. When I would lift weights, I could not even feel my legs, they felt heavy, could not feel muscle contractions, felt they were filled with fluid. I could be sitting down for five minutes and my thighs would be swollen.

The swelling began last XXXXXXX following a high repittion leg workout. I had gone to the ER and they told me to rest as at that time it was just my right knee that was swollen. Over the months, my swelling has gone bilaterally. At times it is severe and I do not know what caused it. Right now, I am experiencing pain with this. I wanting answers and to know if there is any other stone that has not been unturned. Thank you

Brief Answer:
I need to know reports

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Such bilateral pitting edema can be because of many reasons like:
1.     Congestive heart failure.
2.     Hypothyroidism
3.     Proteinuria due to kidney dysfunction.
4.     Drugs like Amlodipine causing swelling over feet.
5.     Anemia
6. Calcium and Vitamin D deficiency

A lot many times all the reports are normal, but still the person has swelling over feet that is most likely to result from the drugs that a person is taking, or can be because of varicose veins.

So, first of all i would need to see your reports for a further comment on this.

This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
