Suggest Treatment For Bartholin Cyst
Question: Hello,
I have what I believe to be a bartholin cyst. Judging from location and description, I think this is what it is, although I have never had one previously.I have an appointment already with my OB/GYN for next week so I thought I would address it then unless it got really large or painful. For the past 2 nights, I have been applying a warm compress and it started out the size of a pea, it seems to have gone down a bit now, although it has not burst or drained. Should I continue with the warm compress? Is it possible for it to go away like this without drainage?

Bartholins cysts are very common in young women. They usually appear on the lower part of the vaginal opening on one side or the other, and are usually quite large (about the size of an egg)
A lump the size of a pea (I am assuming you mean that it is smaller than 1 cm) is unlikely to be a Bartholins cyst. However, you can develop other types of cysts on the vulva such as sebaceous cysts, and they also can be treated with warm compresses without drainage.
I suggest you keep your appointment with your GYN doctor to get an accurate diagnosis, and continue the compresses until then for comfort.
