Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am getting a bad smell in mouth so I went to Dentist and they cleaned my teeth's and suggested me to take the x-ray. After checking the X ray they told me to do one minor surgery for my GUMS. Always I am getting bleeding from my teeth.

I just want to take your 2nd opinion on my X ray report. I have attached the X ray report. Kindly check the report and let me know Whether Surgery is needed or not. If yes what kind of surgery it is and what they do and I just want to know what exactly happened to my teeth or GUMS. If surgery is needed what is the name of the surgery.

Based on my X ray report your detailed explanation is appreciable.

Horizontal bone loss, Bone grafting .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX ,

Thanks for consulting healthcare magic .
This is Dr. Priyanka tiwari answering your query .

Read your query and gone through xray report you have attached as far as I have observed in OPG you have horizontal bone loss in front teeth and in posterior region you have vertical bone loss .

See what happened is bone loss occur commonly due to deposition of plaque or calculus or due to if there is crowding. Don't be worried so much for bone loss in my opinion surgery is needed if you have mobility in teeth then you can go for splinting of teeth or Bone grafting can also be done in treatment of bone loss.

As you have bleeding gums and horizontal bone loss I will suggest you have to maintain proper oral hygiene and visit dentist regularly after 6 months for subgingival scaling and root planning.

Use mouthwash regularly, do warm saline rinses.

Hope I have answered your query .
If you have further query I will be happy to help.
