Suggest Treatment For Atrial Fibrillation

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: I've seen 2 cardiologist and they recommend taking a blood thinner either coumadin or xarelto.?
Want to know the + and - of these? I was diagnosed with a fib but it only showed up on a monitor in the aid car and after EKG, CT scan, x rays, stress test, d- dimer, blood workup and echo gram, all is normal. No signs of the a fib were found at any other time including the 5-6 hours in the E ward on 15 Dec.
Any info, or suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Effect of Medicine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Mr XXXXXXX
First of all i want to know what complaint made you to visit cardiologist.

The condition you have mentioned is known as Afib or Atrial Fibrillation. This is a condition of irregular heartbeat. irregular heart functioning may lead to blood clot, stroke, heart failure and other heart related complication.

Understand blood has its own density. if function of heart is irregular the flow of blood in artery is stopped because the heart can not generate the required pressure to push the blood in artery. some time small blood clot obstruct the normal flow and this may lead to sudden heart failure or paralysis of a organ.

To cure this medicine is required to thin the blood density (coumadin/xarelto)

Medicine is not indicated in any history of pregnancy, bleeding disorder, kidney or liver problem, cancer etc there are some side effect of the drug like
1 Occasional bleeding
2 Pain in body leg muscle, numbness, weakness
3 nausea vomiting headache
4 slight swelling in the body
5 altered taste

some time disease is asymptomatic but the risk factor is high. means the probability of heart failure is high if not treated with in time.

There is no big harm in taking the medicine. this is most common medicine prescribed by the cardiologist in such case.

Hope this is clear to you

In case of any query feel free to ask

Thanks

Dear Dr. Ratnesh. I felt light headed when I was going to go outside and do some yard work. I sat down and watch tv for about 5 minutes and one of our sons, a para medic, came by and called 911.
I did not have any pain, only felt like some heart burn and it was gone in about 10 minutes. The aid car took me to the hospital EM ward and I was there for about 6 hours. They did not see any sign of A fib during this time. The only indication of A fib was a readout from the monitor in the aid car. I have seen a lot of bad publicity for blood thinners and am not anxious to start on them. That is wyh I am seeking the opinion of a DO or natural path DR to see if either Cod liver oil or fish oil could be an alternative? XXXXXXX

Hello
Mr XXXXXXX
This may be a small attack or initial symptom and if not treated may lead to some serious complication. Understand you are under high risk and would suggest you to for prescribed treatment. cod liver oil is alternative but it has also some side effect similar. and the effect is not so good in comparison to coumadin.

I would suggest you to go with prescribed medicine by your cardiologist rather than using any other alternative method.
Hope this is clear to you

Thanks
