Question: I went on 30 cymbalta yesterday . I couldn't sleep so took 1.25 mg of zyprexa that I had been on and had cut down slowly. I am still nervous and jittery today, so am wondering if I can take 3 mg melatonin for my nerves. I take 1 mg xanax at bedtime. Have been on it for a few years.

Brief Answer: You need some extra benzodiazepines Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. Firstly zyprexa 1.25 mg is a very low dose and it would have hardly helped you any ways. Secondly the anxiety and restlessness and jitteryness that you are feeling could be due to the start of cymbalta and not due to the discontinuation of zyprexa. I understand that you are laready on clonazepam but in this case it would be wise to add up some more clonazepam, say upto 2 mg or may be even propranolol could be helpful in 40mg dosage. Melatonine will now help in reducing the anxiety that you are suffering. Cymbalta taken around 1 week to settle down. However if you are still feeling adverse drug reactions after taking 1 week of cymbalta, it would be wise to discontinue the medication and take some thing else like escitalopram or paroxetine etc. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. If not, you may close the discussion and if possible you may rate the answer for me, so that I get a good feedback.
