He wasn't taking any medications before until the day we got him to the emergency, let me explain further how it happened, my father is a mechanic, he work everyday, and never suffer from anxiety, the last tuesday he was with a neighbor and the neighbor told him he is 5 year old son has diabetes, my father went back home feeling emotionally bad, the next day he was working, normally but then the worker with him had asthma crysis, and then my father that time got worried and dont know what to do, as if he got big shock, everything went normal till the end of day when he was driving back home, that moment my father got he is crysis suddenly while driving, he felt he can't breath, i got him to the emergency, they have checked chest, heart, blood and everything was normal. the general doctor gave him this medications then:

- nasonex nasal spray
- spectrum ciprofloxacine 500mg
- ALER-Z cetirizine 10mg
- relaxium B6 150mg
- INALER Salbutamol 2 mg

The thing is yesterday when he was taking shower he got afraid and said inside himself that "i will have it again now" and indeed he had it again, but when he don't think of it he is very fine, and the crysis lasted like 30min and then he was back to normal. so please help, doctors here find nothing

Brief Answer:
Thank you for elaborating,

Detailed Answer:
what you explain is indeed a panic attack. This can be explained as anxiety that overwhelms somebody. The panic attacks last that long and are situational for him. Please have him visit his regular doctor and explain it exactly as you did here. He may need to talk to a counselor to figure out the exact triggers. There is medication that can and will help with these episodes.

It looks like they treated him for a pneumonia at the ER.

Brief Answer:
Yes I am a doctor. But we are not set up to provide medication scripts

Detailed Answer:
I am so sorry, your father will need Ativan, he may need to take it when he feels the panic attack coming on or daily to keep the panic attacks at bay. He also can talk to a counselor that will help him with coping mechanisms when the panic attacks hits,. he needs to visit a psychologist or psychiatrist.

Brief Answer:
Ativan is controlled substance and you need a prescription.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome back.

Ativan is not a "hard" drug so to speak. It just can make one sleepy if not used properly. For him I would start with 1mg a day and see how his anxiety responds. And maybe he needs to take it only before the triggers that make him have panic attacks.

So please do not worry.

Can you please give me full name? is it Ativan (Lorazepam)?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sassen S Kwasa (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Sorry about that, yes it is the Generic name which is Lorazepam and product name is Ativan

Detailed Answer:
Others have success with Xanax, Alprazolam and Clonazepam.

It just depends on what works for a patient, different people respond differently to different medications and that is why these medications are prescribed by a doctor who can follow side effects and efficacy.
