Brief Answer:
anxiety disorder with panic attacks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

I can understand your concerns.

In my opinion, you are having an anxiety disorder with superimposed panick attacks.

It is easily controllable and you can lead a normal life.

I have some suggestions which will help you:
1. Practice relaxation exercises like deep breathing and meditation regularly.
2. Avoid tea, coffee, and alcohol.
3. SSRI drugs like escitalopram or paroxetine (prescription drug) and benzos like klonopin will help (needs valid prescription).
4. You can drink a glass of cold water or coughing for sometime can abort a panic attack.

Kindly mention what sleeping pills are you taking?

Are your thyroid levels under control? Hyperthyroidism can also precipitate anxiety.

You are right that tooth-extraction might have resulted in this anxiety symptoms. Because our brain can register such events as traumatic ones and cognitive distortions develop around this.

Kindly consult a psychiatrist for detailed examination and further treatment.
Hope this answers your query satisfactorily.

Feel free to ask further.
Thanks.

First, thank-you very much Dr. Mehta , for your prompt and curtious response. Your response and suggestions is very much appreciated. I have not consulted a physciatrist except for a brief on the phone conversation. I do believe your correct about the tooth extraction increasing my symptoms of panick attacks and anxiety thus leading me to emotional liability. My hyperthyroidizm is under control with prescribed medication, and I take valarian root, and sleep XXXXXXX natural remedies that help me relax and go to sleep, but the problem is that i periodically wake up at 3am and take more valarian root to fall asleep. In the mean time are their good strategies to control my anxiety without medication, what would be your suggestions? I understand yoga and deep breathing/meditation is good how about 40-1 hour exercise 2x a wk? Or taking some types of educational classes? Again thank-you Dr. God bless

Brief Answer:
relaxation therapy.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the appreciation.

I am glad that you found my suggestions helpful.

In addition to natural sleep remedies, you can follow some sleep hygiene habbits:
1. Avoid daytime naps.
2. Donot take heavy fatty meals in dinner.
3. Drink a glass of warm milk and take warm water bath before bed.
4. Avoid tea, coffee at bedtime.
5. Ensure adequate day light exposure.
6. Listen to calm, soothing music in night.

1 hour exercise would be intense. I would recommend exercise not more than 45 mins.

Apart from medicines, relaxation therapies like biofeedback and some cognitive therapies will help you.

Hope this helps you.

Feel free to discuss further.

Kindly close the discussion if you have no more queries and give your valuable feedback.

I wish you well.
